But I'm trying to do what I can to avoid using Blender as much as possible, for a variety of reasons. Another alternative to explore is using Blender for exporting the final product in COLLADA format. My own solution is to simply use what I have, and if, in the future, there any compatibility problems arise due to 2010 no longer being supported, I'll simply use Daz|Studio 4 to export my meshes, after they've been rigged in Poser, as Daz3D will continue to support its software. However, with the upcoming release of Poser 9.Pro 2012, any further support for 8/2010 will no longer be available. According to SmithMicro Tech Support, Poser Pro 2010 uses the latest version of COLLADA. The answer to my original question seems to be that there shouldn't be any real issues exporting files from Poser for import into SL. dae files to import into SL? The normal prices at the time of writing this Luminar Neo review are listed below. This brings us all to the price and as you can already see Luminar Neo has migrated more to a subscription based platform than an outright lifetime purchase option. If you want to know more about the specific Expansion packs then check out the right sidebar as I have reviews on several of them there and news on the future ones also. That leaves two yet unknown expansion packs but I would bet money one of them will be layers based… Which leaves one mystery one. The next one to be announced is going to be Sharpening AI (That’s what I am calling it) this is purely speculation and a slight bit of inside information also… HDR Merge and Noiseless AI are both available now with Upscale AI and AI Background Removal coming soon that gives us four out of the seven. Ok so you see why I think this is important now I am guessing but there is also a third unknown in all this… what will Topaz Labs do with their pricing now? Well, they are obviously going to have to drop the price as they are $199 a year for just DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI and Gigapixel AI so even if you don’t use Skylum software this news will save you money… Which bring us to the expansion packs for Luminar Neo. Now just think about that for a second… that means you can get a suite of professional editing software for just over $119 a year? That will be huge for a lot of people and open out amazing software to not just tens of thousand but millions worldwide. The amazing news here is that the Pro Subscription Plan will give you Luminar Neo and all future expansion packs for $199.- a year. If you are using noise reduction software like DeNoise AI then you already know it’s not cheap at €80 a year for that facility alone…. The first bit is that this is one of 7 expansion packs to be released in 2022, so we can expect another 5 expansion packs before the end of the year!!! I will get into the 7 packs further down below…. Skylum released the Noiseless AI expansion pack on the 30th of August and while this is huge news on its own there are two other bits of news that have slipped past most people. Even if they don’t sing much or at all on their winter grounds, they’ll be ready to burst forth in recognizable song when they return next spring.Īttracting a mate and holding a territory are the two most important things a songbird does in its life. His ability to croon his species’s “This is mine, keep away!” song will help him hold a territory and attract a mate.īy the time they migrate out of the state in the fall, youngsters will have their songs stored accurately in their memories. Summer’s endless practicing pays off the next spring, when a young bird sits on his territory for the first time. These youngsters vocal learning sessions are a bit easier on the ear, not so much sung as whistled. If you listen, late in the summer, you can hear young cardinal and oriole males engaging in song practice. These become louder as the young birds become more proficient. At first they’re almost inaudible as they “whisper” their practice sounds. Young birds start out babbling just as human babies do, soon after they leave the nest. Young males first learn to sing like their fathers, then, when setting up their own territories, they add on the “local dialect,” so they sound like their neighbors. And just like the kid down the block who’s learning to play the violin, listening to this can be painful. Other young birds, such as bluebirds, cardinals and chickadees, run through their practice endlessly, until they can duplicate their father’s song perfectly. Then the young robin, unlike nearly all other songbirds, does something extraordinary: he creates a song that’s uniquely his own, combining robin sounds in an individual way. They keep it up until there’s a good match. After leaving the nest, they practice all day long, comparing the sounds coming out of their beaks to their mental template of how a robin should sound. Take the robins: youngsters hatch with an idea of their species’s repertoire, based on hearing their father sing. Because it’s not hard-wired into their brain, it must be learned. They require a lot of practice, because their song is not instinctual. But the birds we hear most frequently in mid-summer are their sons, hatched just weeks ago and now in a hurry to learn to sound like an adult. Those springtime soloists were adult males, experts at vocalizing their species’s sounds. Why the change? Do the males only make sweet music while they’re setting up housekeeping with a female, then afterwards don’t put much heart into it? Turns out that the current singers are different birds than the ones that warbled during April and May. The towhees are singing out only a portion of their “drink your TEA” song - more like “drink your” - and chickadee sounds are clipped and nasal. That easily recognized, smooth rendition of “cheerily, cheer-up, cheerio” has been replaced by something that sounds a bit more like a series of abruptly snapped off shrieks.īluebirds, too, sound different, more hesitant and a bit raspy. Heading into summer there’s a change in the mellifluous robin song of early spring. Contributing Writer Time spent practicing pays off next year, when the best singers get the best territories and mates. Instead, when you start the game, you’re given a generic character with all stats set to 1 and have to just build your character from there. Unlike certain Souls-likes, however, you don’t actually get to create a character at all. The only issue with that last part is there doesn’t seem to be any narrative reason why it all keeps happening, at least not in a way that is immediately apparent. You have light and heavy attacks, shields, guns, refilling healing items, and enemies that keep respawning no matter how much you try to kill them. If you’re a Souls-like veteran, then the gameplay of Hellpoint should be pretty familiar to you. Hellpoint has some interestingly janky graphical moments, not helped by the fact that frame rates tank in combat. Spoiler alert: It was probably not very good because everyone is dead, and occasionally evil demons will show up to try and pull your intestines out through your kneecaps. Set in a dark sci-fi universe aboard a dark sci-fi space station orbiting a black hole, you are tasked with controlling a nameless humanoid who must journey around the station and uncover the dark secret of what really went on here. It was also published by tinyBuild, the indie giant behind such games as Hello Neighborand No Time to Explain. Hellpoint is a Souls-like from Cradle Games and is their first game as a studio. Hellpoint is one of the latest games out there to try and be Dark Souls. Does it succeed? Well, no, obviously not. Souls-likes can be pretty decent, but most suffer from simply not really being Dark Souls. Ever since FromSoftware created the perfect video game (only slightly sarcastic), it seems that everyone is scrambling to try and capture that particular piece of lightning in a bottle all over again. Souls-likes are a common genre these days. Toy Story 3 looked great, aping the movie brilliantly. Unlocked cars can be viewed in a virtual garage and there’s a way to link up your game to The World of Cars Online website (giving you a reward for doing so), but that’s about it. Outside of the main mission mode and freeplay there’s really little else included in the package. Sadly there’s no online play included, so local split-screen is the only way to get your multiplayer Cars 2 fix. As is the case in the classic Mario Kart games, you’re able to take part in standard weaponised races or opt for battle arenas if you want to focus purely on the combat side of things. Survival can be mildly exciting as you attempt to gain a few precious extra metres before your shield runs out of juice, but Hunter is tedious in the extreme.īeing a fun arcade racer the included four-player split-screen works extremely well and is something of a rarity on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Hunter asks you to shoot enemy cars in fairly open levels using the various weapon pick-ups scattered about. Collect energy pick-ups to replenish the bar, but if it runs out it’s game over. Survival gives you a shield and an ever-depleting energy meter. Race events can cause a few swear words youngsters playing Cars 2 probably shouldn’t even know about, but the Survival and Hunter events can be plain dull. There’s really very little enjoyment to be gained from having a string of weapon attacks hit you one after the other, causing you to drop from first to outside the top three when the finish line is almost in sight. Early on this doesn’t really matter as the events are incredibly easy to win, but once you’re past the half-way point frustration rears its head now and again. A special boost, which also serves as a shield that turns your vehicle into a battering ram, can be activated when your nitrous bar is completely full, and comes in handy when trying to catch up on the last lap.Īs with many racers of this type there are certain weapons that feel unfair, usually targeting the leading car and in turn letting everyone else catch up. While each of the included cars has a different balance between speed and power, they all powerslide when you hold down the drift button, can jump, perform tricks and earn nitrous while doing so. On the track gameplay definitely falls into Mario Kart territory. You can powerslide around corners and use speed boosts, but also fire off numerous guns, perform tricks in the air, drive backwards and even lean onto just two wheels.Īfter a few training missions set inside virtual race courses you’re thrown into the game proper, which consists of a mixture of straight up multiple lap events, battle events in which weapons can be used, arena-like challenges in which you have to take out as many enemy cars as possible and a number of other variations on these. The end result is an arcade racer that feels like a more explosive version of Mario Kart. Think of Cars meets any James Bond movie and you’ll be close to what’s on offer here. Tying in with the plot of the new movie, Cars 2 features the fun characters fans will know and love (Lightning McQueen, Mater and the rest) but with a secret agent twist, with our heroes going up against the evil Professor Z. While not nearly as ambitious as Woody and co’s adventure, Cars 2 provides fun arcade-style racing action for all the family. Thankfully Cars 2 the video game is from the same stable as the excellent Toy Story 3 game from last year. Cars 2 no doubt had an easier time making its way over to video game land than the majority of movie licences, but given how poor the majority of such games are it definitely wasn’t a given that a racing game based on the Pixar movie would be good. While working at Salesforce, Liu realized its underlying data model wasn’t as rigid as other CRM systems, which gave customers a lot of flexibility around how they customized the software. That was the unlock for me … it's like the software that can make any other software. By the age of 22, he had sold that company to Salesforce. By the age of 13 Liu taught himself to code with his father’s old textbook, and shortly after college he built his first company, a CRM system called Etacts. Howie Liu has always been interested in the power of software. But to do that, Airtable will have to prove to enterprises, investors and analysts that it's much more than a productivity company. These days, Liu wants Airtable to shift from collaboration and productivity tools to an application development platform that enterprises select as the backbone of their business workflows. “We always intended to become an app builder,” he said. “We are trying to position ourselves more against ServiceNow or Salesforce, not from a CRM standpoint, but from a platform standpoint,” said Liu. Instead, he wants people to draw comparisons between Airtable and enterprise software giants like his former employer Salesforce, or even ServiceNow. To this day, Liu eschews the comparisons to productivity apps like Asana, Trello, Notion or. Years ago, when Airtable was referenced as a “spreadsheet on steroids” in the press, CEO Howie Liu wasn’t exactly enthusiastic, because he felt the company offered much more than that. In fact, it may not be a productivity company at all. To many, the company remains shrouded in mystery, a cult classic among designers and developers but relatively unknown to the mainstream.Īirtable is clearly not your average productivity company. “I cover the collaboration space and Airtable wasn't really on my radar screen in any significant way,” said Futurum Research analyst Shelly Kramer. Some analysts and investors Protocol spoke to didn’t even have the productivity tool-maker on their radar, despite the company raising a massive $735 million at an $11 billion valuation last December. Enter the “at a scheduled time” trigger, which is perfect for automating tasks at a regular cadence so you don’t have to do a thing.Airtable has always been somewhat misunderstood, even within its own market. Let’s take a minute to go over some of the most popular and explore exactly when you’d want to use them. There are a variety of triggers available in Airtable. It’s possible with Airtable automations.īut to run these time-saving automations, you first need a trigger–think of it as the event that kicks off the automation.
